Effective date: July 14, 2026
BlipSat ("BlipSat," "we," "us," or "our") provides a device-agnostic satellite message relay service, available at blipsat.com and through the BlipSat iOS app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
BlipSat is a service of PresumeNothing L.L.C. (Chicago, IL, USA). If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@blipsat.com.
BlipSat lets you send short commands from a satellite communicator (such as a ZOLEO or Garmin inReach) — or directly from the app when you have an internet connection — and receive answers back. Supported commands include aviation weather (METAR/TAF, D-ATIS, and radar), sports scores, stock quotes, and AI-assisted web search. In the field, no cellular or Wi-Fi connection is required; requests travel over the Iridium satellite network via your device.
Account information. When you create a BlipSat account, we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash), or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the email address provided by that sign-in service. Each account is assigned a permanent 6-digit user ID (uid).
Device identifiers. To route replies to your satellite communicator, we store the identifier for each device you register — for example, a satellite device IMEI (ZOLEO/Garmin) or a mobile phone number (for the SMS channel). If you register a phone number for SMS, we also record a timestamp and the text of the consent you agreed to.
Message content. We store the commands you send and the replies we return (for example, wx KORD and its weather response), along with related metadata (command type, timestamps, delivery status, and which device or channel was used). This lets the service deliver replies, split long answers into satellite-sized messages, show your message history, and support billing and troubleshooting.
Location information. The app can use your device's GPS location, with your permission, to center the weather radar map on your position and to align the radar's forward corridor to your direction of travel. Location is used on your device for the map display. If you explicitly choose to center a radar request on "my location" (rather than on a named airport), the resulting radar command includes your approximate coordinates (rounded to about four decimal places), and that command is transmitted to our servers and/or over the satellite network so the radar can be generated for your position. If you center radar on an airport code instead, your coordinates are not transmitted. We do not continuously track or log your location.
Usage and billing data. For accounts with an active subscription or trial, we record per-billing-period usage (messages sent/received and AI search calls, including token and web-search counts) to enforce plan limits and calculate cost.
Payment information. Subscriptions are billed on blipsat.com through Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment card details directly; we do not receive or store full card numbers. We retain a Stripe customer/subscription reference and your plan and billing-period status. There is no in-app purchase in the iOS app.
We use the information above to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app/cross-site tracking.
We share information only with service providers ("processors") that help us run the service, and only as needed to provide it:
search command, to generate a web-search answer. Other commands do not send data to Anthropic. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of BlipSat, our users, or the public.
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. We retain message content, device records, and usage/billing records as needed to provide the service, support billing and dispute resolution, and meet legal and recordkeeping obligations. When you delete your account (see Section 7), we delete or de-identify the personal data associated with it, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing records) by law.
Account deletion (in-app and on the web). You can delete your BlipSat account and its associated personal data from within the iOS app at Settings → Delete Account, or by contacting us at support@blipsat.com. Deleting your account permanently removes your account record along with your registered devices, message history, and subscription, and cancels any active billing, as described in Section 6.
Access and correction. You can review and update your email and device information in the app or on the dashboard at blipsat.com. For other requests to access or correct your data, contact support@blipsat.com.
Location. You can grant or revoke location access at any time in the iOS Settings app. Denying location simply disables the "center radar on my location" convenience; you can still use airport-based radar.
SMS opt-out. If you registered a phone number, reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help, consistent with the consent you agreed to.
Marketing. BlipSat sends transactional messages (replies, account, and billing notices). We do not send marketing email as part of the core service.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for app-to-server communication, hashed passwords, hashed one-time SMS verification codes, and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
BlipSat is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@blipsat.com and we will delete it.
BlipSat is operated from the United States, and our service providers (including AWS in the us-east-1 region) process data in the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and post the updated policy at blipsat.com/privacy. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
